Un après-midi dans le domaine de Trévarez.

Situé au nord de la Cornouaille et construit entre 1893 et 1907, le Domaine de Trévarez est la concrétisation du rêve d’un homme ambitieux, James de Kerjegu.
Il choisit des architectes prestigieux, les Destailleur, pour bâtir ce château qu’il dote des équipements techniques les plus novateurs en cette fin du 19e siècle...
Gravement endommagé lors de la seconde guerre mondiale, le château ne se visite que partiellement.


Reconnu « Patrimoine du 20e siècle » en 2004, le vaste domaine de Trévarez ( 85 hectares) a également été labellisé « Jardin remarquable » en 2006 pour son parc créé en 1900, dans le « style mixte » (Français et Italien) alors caractéristique des jardins français.
Les allées principales sont bordées de plantes dites de terre de bruyère (andromèdes, camélias, rhododendrons hybrides, hortensias, skimmias, osmanthus) et d’arbres exotiques... Un jardin japonais est aménagé dans les années 1920.
Les collections majeures sont celles des hydrangeas, des azalées et des Rhododendrons.

An afternoon in the «Domaine de Trévarez»

Situated in the North of Cornouaille and built between 1893 and 1907, the Domain of Trévarez is the realization of the dream of an ambitious man, James de Kerjegu.
He elected prestigious architects, the Destailleur, to build this castle that he endowed the best available equipments at that time.
Seriously damaged during the Second World War, the castle visits only partially.
Inserted on the list "Heritage of the 20th century " in 2004, the vast domain of Trévarez (85 hectares) was also certified " remarkable Garden " in 2006 for its park created in 1900, in the «mixed style» (French and Italian) then characteristic of the French gardens.
The main paths are lined with said plants of «heath earth» (andromèdes, camellias, rhododendrons hybrids, hydrangeas, skimmias, osmanthus) and of exotic trees... A Japanese garden was fitted out in the 1920s.
The major collections are the ones hydrangeas, azaleas and Rhododendrons.
