Le phare de Nividic est construit sur un îlot rocher qui est le lieu le plus occidental de le France métropolitaine. Au-delà aucune terre n’est en vue avant l’Amérique du Nord. La construction du phare s’avéra très difficile en raison de la force des courants. Conçu pour être automatisé dès sa mise en service, l’on construisit deux pylônes en béton entre le phare et la côte de manière à supporter les cables électriques nécessaires à son fonctionnement ainsi qu’un téléphérique pour le transport des équipes de maintenance.
