The place where Siddharta Lived.

Lumbini - Nepal.

After hours of bus on a mountain road then through a rice plain, on a rough and dusty road, at the hour when the sunset was coming down, we arrived where the road stops. Here, between bush and marsh, was born Siddharta Gautama, the historical Buddha.

Quite a pilgrimage to this all natural place. Lovely to see there's nothing like a monument. Perfect for who he was.

rich growth here to echo the extensive spread of the Buddha's ideas...the muted light adds a suitable touch of solemnity..
