DAY 2

This is as far as I can go on this side until I can hang and test fit the doors and I can't do that
until the hinges are rebuilt. Because the hinge attachment is still solid I'm only going to
replace the very bottom. You can see the patch cut out and laying on the floorboard. I can't
weld it on until I hang the door because the fit is so nebulous there is no way to pre-determine
where it will contact the sill. Once the door is hung and rigged into position I hope to weld
the patch to the pillar and sill. The sill will have to be braced until it's tied into the new floorboard.

The problem here is that once the rusted bottom of the hinge pillar was cut off there is nothing tying
the sill to anything else so there has been a bit of misalignment created. Chances are with the
amount of rot in this area and the shoddy repairs there was probably some misalignment anyway
so bracing the cab to hold it's shape may not have been wise.

The gap between the sill and pillar is an optical illusion... the front of the sill has been cut off.

The only way to insure that the door opening is correct is to hang the door and move things
around until the door closes and fits properly and then weld the sill to the hinge pillar and
attach the inner and outer cowl panels. Once all of that is in place the floorboard can be replaced.

While I'm waiting on parts for the hinges and the new sills I'll put a latch and handle on the door
and see about cleaning up the pile of parts for sand blasting.
