While the bear photography was winding down this fisheries vessel cruised into the inlet. Someone in the zodiac read the name "Capt Goddard". My heart leapt and I had a lump in my throat, this vessel is named after Capt Nicola Goddard, the first Canadian Forces female officer to lose her life in the Afghanistan war, and whom I knew as a young teenager when she cross country skied with my son in the Edmonton Nordic race program. Even more poignant was that today, May 17th, is the anniversary of her death. Bears were forgotten and I had to take a photograph of the aptly named vessel doing its job in the beautiful surrounding.
