Welcome to My Virtual World

"In my world you may learn that
shoe polish means toothpaste,
our beloved cat is a dog, and the recliner
is an automobile, but you still
haven't got it. The names are always changing.
One day he called, panic in his voice.
Rushing to his room, half-expecting
to find him on the floor again,
he was sitting upright in his chair.
When do we get off?
Off of what, dear?
This thing with wheels we are on--
when do we get off?
We're safe at home and not going anywhere.
But when do we get off the bus?
Don't worry. We're not on a bus.
So where is the car? We'll need it.
Look out the window. You can see it.
What are we going to take with us?
I paused, took a deep breath and said,
I haven't decided yet,
but we have plenty of time.
Why don't you take a nap while
I get everything together?
Okay, but don't let us miss our stop."

Heartbreaking, wise, wonderful with the perfect work of art to go with the story.

Hauntingly beautiful, thought provoking & takes the reader inside the frightening world of dementia. Displays great love, compassion & mountains of courage by the care giver. The blurred & fractured features of the cat’s face portrays perfectly the emotion of this wonderful poem.

You’ve painted a vivid picture with these words; tears at the heart. The strong lines of confusion on your cats face echo the bewilderment expressed in the poem. Poignant! I’ll be back to visit this gallery again.
