Best Pals Until the End

May '09 PAD - 'Doubling Up'

Paco & Jamie. Australian Shepherds I walk in my pet sitting biz. http://www.pbase.com/cits_4_pets/09_march_pad

In loving memory of Paco, 1998-May 11,2009

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Lovely image, these two dogs admiring and enjoying that beautiful landscape.
A pity for Poco and his friends, that this was one of the last times for Poco.

I am sure there is now another star shining down on Jamie - and you! Lovely images ... beautiful memories.

I'm just thinking of what they are saying to each other, or are they just telephatics? Will we ever smarten up and know? Vµ

What a shot. And what a spot and view for both dogs and humans. Seems they loved that view up there very much. Touching description you added below the picture. Very well done. Big V

Beautiful and touching image, Flo. The two dogs look like waiting for the rainbow bridge and to say good bye to each other.
Thank you for sharing te story. Paco was a wonderful, wise dog and he will be missed.

You've done it again ... another wonderful shot. There are so many reasons to love this picture. Paco and Jamie look so wise, like they are staring down from the heavens. I like to think Paco is showing Jamie where he's off to, and Jamie gets to share a moment of what he will see. Two pals enjoying an aweome No. California breeze. (There is so much meaning in this photograph!) Losing a friend takes a piece of your heart, but it does get easier with time. After my first Aussie crossed over, I found two in a rescue. They weren't and aren't to take his place, but they were there when it really hurt. And they still are. Thank you for such a lovely tribute. ~Shalom

Flo, I just saw your tribute to Paco and have sobbed through it and the comments. Thank you for such a wonderful photo tribute to my best buddy. I'm trying to adjust to life without Paco but it's hard. I hope to start again with a new Aussie soon. He or she will never replace Paco but will create his own place in my heart.

Leave footprints on our hearts,
And we are never, ever the same. "

What an awesome shot! I have goosebumps, since I was listenting to music, and "Vincent - Starry, Starry Night" came on just as I was looking at your shot (version by Cloe Agnew). This photo speaks volumes. . . Sorry for the loss of Paco.

I'm sure Jamie will be lost for a while. I'm so sorry to hear about Paco, and I believe that they will be there for us when it is our time to go. Beautiful image of the two together enjoying the scenery beyond. Almost like he's looking for the rainbow bridge! Paco was a beautiful animal and my heart goes out to his owner and to you!
