Paul. Actually I don't own any Beatles records, this one is owned by my partner. She's looked after it well like all her records. My collection is very much of the Reggae flavour with over 100 12" 33/45 records that I bought in the 80's, mine have some quite tatty covers. :-)
Last time I plugged my record player in and used it was to copy some albums to digital about 10yrs ago. I don't know if it still works today, although I bet it does because it is direct drive.
WKRP in Cincinnati... That sounds familiar, I'm sure I used to watch it.
I’m impressed that you still have these and I assume you have plenty of others considering you still have a record player and at least two stylus cartridges. My records and the record changer have been gone for ages.
I did a job for a local radio DJ back in the early 90s and in his basement he had racks and racks and racks of LPs and 45s, easily over a 1000 of them. Naturally I had to ask him about the collection and his comment was something like “one of the benefits of the trade”. He was a heavy, heavy smoker, I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Looking back he kind of reminded me of Dr. Johnny Fever from the TV show WKRP Cincinnati. Paul
