Cheryl, you look absolutely beautiful here. Because it looks just like you.

The lighting matches the mood very nicely, a face worth knowing I think.

Very nice. I couldn't describe it any better than Neal already has.

This is just simply a beautiful portrait, self or otherwise. Just perfect, from that long line of your hair to the highlight in your right eye. Whether it matches your self-image or not, you should be proud of this.

Great B&W SP Cheryl

This is a great self portrait. Love the black/white and composition.

Still incognito? What are you hiding? I like simple portraits, that look honest. (Like this one.) Also, I like the lighting and the way you've placed yourself to the left of this image.

I see a strong character, wise, contented. Very nicely done.

I don't know how you see yourself through your minds eye, only what I see as I view this stunning SP. Stunning you ask? Yes because I see strength, intelligent resolve. Physically high cheekbones which are always attractive, deep eyes, facial structure which also depicts strength yet softness. You are beautiful. I suppose some feel that to be beautiful one has to be young (I am guilty of that myself, hense the glow effect)with the glamor of a moviestar. Unrealistic!

It's a curious thing, isn't it. My appearance doesn't match how I see myself, either. I'm puzzled sometimes by how people react to me; I guess they can't tell that I'm really about a foot taller than I look, among other things! I guess the key to SP may be to let that inner self bleed out a little bit -- I think sometimes it really does and we get a glimpse of one another that way.
I like the B&W in this, and your sort of 'otherwhere' expression.

I think this is a lovely portrait. We all tend to be too critical of ourselves. In my mind's eye, I'm still a svelte 20 year-old with a six-pack and perfect eyesight. I can't help it if no-one else sees my like that anymore!

OK Northy beat me to my punchline. This is why you don't see me in many of my photo's Cheryl, they never look like how I imagine either.

The point of self-portraits is to slap ourselves in the face with a dose of reality??? : ^)
Ray :)01-Oct-2004 21:12
Isn't that the point of self-portraits? ;->

Great one, Cheryl.
