DAVID C. DOTEN JR., 46, of 1506 Vance, private practice attorney at Duke & Doten Law Firm, died Wednesday at Methodist Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memorial Park. He was past national advocate general and past state commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars and quartermaster and life member of VFW Post 1965. He was a member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church, Mayflower Society, Memphis University Club, Pilgrim Society, Memphis Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute of Washington, Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, Pro Bono Panel of the Memphis Bar Association and the American Legion.
He was a graduate of Memphis State University and Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and was president of the graduating class of 1970. He was also an annual judge of the Voice of America Contest. He was the son of former chief United States bankruptcy judge for the Western District, Judge David C. Doten. Mr. Doten, the husband of Joyce A. Doten, also leaves a daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Doten of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; his mother, Ferina Wilson Doten of Memphis, and a sister, Dorothy Doten Thomas of Atlanta.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Boys Club of Memphis, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
