Mass Migration

Every year, an annual migration of wildebeest typically happens in July & August. This is a spectaular event to witness as this is when millions of these beasts move northwards following the rains across the Serengeti to lusher greener pastures. When the rains reverse direction, they too follow back south for greener feeding grounds. It was really an amazing sight to see millions of these creatures stretching as far as the eye could see, moving like a sea of black across the golden backdrop of the Masai Mara.

You will seldom see as many mammals in a single image as in this one. There is a primal force at work here -- the wildebeest are blindly following their instinct here, and incongruously almost blot out the landscape. If ever there was a "mammalscape," you've made one here. You were very fortunate to be in this spot at this moment, and you made he most of it.
