The underground Roman homes in Bulla Regia had floors that were exquisitely decorated with intricate mosaic work. The interesting thing about these homes was that beauty and pragmatism existed side by side throughout these homes - they were grand but they were built underground to escape the scorching heat above ground, floors were an exhibition of art and wealth but much needed wells were bored into these mosaic masterpieces too, like this one.
