It was the first day that the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge had its drive open for visitors. One of our local bald eagles decided to put in an appearance and caused an eagle jam. It was sitting on a tree not far from the drive that you take into the refuge. Cars and photographers lined up quite a way. Suddenly, it left the tree and put on quite a show for us. It soared right over us! It stayed soaring for several minutes. A red-tail hawk dive bombed it. Finally, it kept spiraling higher and flew over to the river. It made a day to remember.
A couple standing next to me had never seen a wild bald eagle before. The husband had just gotten a new camera and decided to go to Montezuma to photograph a bald eagle. He got his wish! He said he had never really dreamed he would actually see an eagle. I guess dreams do come true.
