Comet Tempel 1 and Deep Space Impact Probe

This picture was taken last weekend and processed today.

The inset picture shows the very dim Comet Tempel 1, near Jupiter.

We have been watching this comet as on July 3, a piece of a probe called Deep Space Impact, will crash
into this comet. The resulting impact will release dust and particles for analysis by the remaining probe and also brighten the comet.

We hope to photograph this event, hoping everything goes as planned.

Very interesting and cool shot and I'm always impressed when people can identify those dots. Did you have to move far away from the city to take this one?

That's a cool picture Bryan. It's too bad my lens doesn't identify the stars the way yours does. Think it might be a Nikon enhancement??
I'll be watching for more of these.

Very interesting, Bryan. Watching the sky and planets must be fascinating!

I need to put my glasses on, I think, I still can't see it. LOL!

So are you saying we can max out our credit cards and quit our jobs? Then watch for the big one?
