The "Leaping Puma" is the name my son, Ben, and I, have given this dark nebula, at the heart of the Rosette Nebula, back in 2011 http://www.pbase.com/boren/image/133093433/original).
The name stuck and most amateurs use it nowadays.
Here's the first 2 hour Ha image taken remotely from our newly inaugurated Southern Sky Gems Observatory, deep in the Kalahari desert.
It is by no means the last version of the image, as we plan to shoot another 20 hours or so, to perfect SNR and overall image quality.
But it's a start...
