John Schlesinger's 1967 adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel - with Julie Christie, Peter Finch and Alan Bates. From IMDB: "Bathsheba Everdine, a willful, flirtatious, young woman, unexpectedly inherits a large farm and becomes romantically involved with three widely divergent men". Phwooaaarr! Bit of an 19th century bedroom romp then!!!
This is the view east from Roel Gate across to Stow-on-the-Wold, high in the hills just a couple of miles outside Cheltenham...but it may as well be on Mars. This is my favourite spot in the Cotswolds and is almost always deserted and people-free; I feel nicely removed from the hustle, bustle and angst of modern life when I come up here to navel gaze and sort my head out...
