Marching in Nassau

A Velvia slide from a 90's trip that I just converted for the first time. The digital color scan was poor but now my processing skills have got to the point where the B&W conversion stands up. This was a practice day for the big parade. Many drum and brass bands were on hand playing and marching-quite a sight and sound riot.

I shot this with my 1950's Kodak Retina IIc with it's amazing Xenon Schneider 50mm lens. There is minimal crop from the original frame. In terms of composition, fast free hand shots like this one don't come along every day.

Awesome photo, Bill! You're right - shots like this don't come along everyday but you definitely seized the moment. V.

Bill, I love that image, it's both a portrait and a story. What can I say as a positive criticism: I should put more dark than you did, and maybe a pinch of contrast:
"gorgeous dark - tiny details in highlights"

I think it turned out quite well. Looks like something that should be on a marketing poster or a billboard.
