The Mississippi Kite is able to very rapidly accelerate to maximum
speed when attacking prey. In this case, however, the "attack" was
just a bluff against some harassing blue jays. Blue Jays are not
easily bluffed and the kite's attempted bluff failed even though it
looked impressive.
