The feature last year at the Monterey Historics was "A Salute To Great American Specials, A Tribute To Chaparral" Don't get me wrong here, while the theme was noble and it was very cool to see Jim Hall's specials all in one place at one time, there was a definite excitement of a different nature. The word was spreading faster than a computer virus. Have you heard? The Monterey Historics are going to have an IMSA race group this year! Enough said, no more needs to be said. Could it be? YES! RSR's, 935's, Monza's, M-1's. WOW... To quote Mazda raceway’s GM "can you F%*&#@G believe this", and our devoted race junkie photographer " This is just to F*(%#@G cool". This race group did not get the hype, it did not get the Promo, however in my opinion it was the race of the weekend! It was one of only two races televised in full on Speed channel’s broadcast of the event. So, here are some candid shots from the event, some are mine, some are from friends some are just cool. Gallery update: 2/01/06 Well, finally as promised photos from the IMSA race group 1970 to 1980 at the Monterey Historic’s. I would like to personally thank the contributing photographers, Bob Pengraph, Armando Serrano and your’s truly Bernd Buschen, also to Bruce Canepa for having the vision to put this together and Steve Earl for the event. Most of all to all the car owners, participants and drivers for putting on a spectacular event! Every time I look at these pictures it brings a smile to my face, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Over the next few day’s I will be adding text to the pictures to give you more details.
