Barrio Nueva Esperanza is a community of flood refugees who gathered outside of Cuatro Canadas, Santa Cruz, Bolivia after severe flooding along the Rio Grande River in 2006. One hundred twenty families moved here from nine different rural farming communities. They are slowing rebuilding their lives. They first lived in tents, then built small wooden structures. This year a Spanish NGO is helping them build brick homes. They currently only have one water well for all of these families. We are drilling three more water wells so they do not to stand in line or walk so far to get water. I will add more pictures as the work progresses.
