Jon,
If your saw is a CCC saw it was probably made in the early 1930's. Depending on condition and how long the teeth are it could be worth about $250 to $300 plus another $50 for the handles. You can get an idea of the value if you look on eBay and a few sites that sell saws.

Hi there, I have a unused saw that I purchased from the original owner who was issued this saw by the National Forest Service for work in the Civilian Conservation Corps. (CCC) The saw is around 7 foot tall, stamp reads Simonds saw and Steel co. Fitchburg, Mass. Radial Cresent Royal Chinook Made in USA No. 502. This saw also has the original oak tooth guard attached. The handles are new but bear the Disston Saw name #128. Do you know when this saw was made, maybe value, and a website I could get more information regarding this saw? Thanks Jon.... jonmigrane@aol.com

Hello:

I have a Simonds Saw No. 72 hand saw that is in great shape. The Simonds image is very visible as well as the metal is in great shape. Handle is perfect. It this item worth much. I have been trying to find some history on it but have not had much luck. Any information you can provide would be great.

Thanks,

Scot

Hi Roy,
I would guess that your 5' saw was worth $200 to $300. Maybe someone would give $400 if it is really flawless.

You can get handles on eBay if you watch. Or new handles can be found at the Crosscut Saw Co.

I have a 5 foot Simonds Royal Chinook # 513 crosscut saw that has never been used. It has the u shaped piece of wood that protects the teeth. The mark is very clear.

What is this worth and where could I find a set of handles. would the Simonds #395 mentioned below be appropriate?

The Royal Chinook is one of the most sought after crosscut saws. This one appears to be in excellent condition, and the mark is clearly visible. One in this condition routinely sells for $200 to $250 on Ebay. What is the length? If it is longer than 6 ft, the price should go higher. The usual handles to see on this saw are Simonds #395, a western style. A good set of those handles can be worth $100.
