Unagi Don

Seto

Very fresh unagi (eel) from a very small local restaurant.
We watched the cook pull a live eel from a pot, then skin and fillet it still alive.

A very delicious dish. I get mine from a can;-)

Plate fright can hold one back from discovering a world of great new foods. I first ate eel in Italy only cause it was the house specialty and everyone was eating. It was wonderful and I recommend the insalata di mare. V

That would definitely turn me vegetarian, for a minute or two,

Yes, I'm afraid I'd be drawing a line on that too. I have no great love for eels and I realise that meat comes from killing something, but for mine it needs to be done humanely. I'd rather eat tofu, and that's saying something.

I can appreciate the cultural differences, but I think seeing that would probably ruin my appetite.

The Japanese are very big on that. Personally I think it's cruel.
