Nomikai

Tokyo

Nomikai is the Japanese business culture of after work socialising and drinking - often competitively.
We have just finished a major review for a client and have been out for drinks to celebrate.
But the social aspect is part of the culture test to see if we can work with them.
A few plates of sashimi and several bottles of sake later and we begin to do business.

I think you've nailed the essence of it; the extended hand and pouring bottle is the ideal "verb" for the sentence of the shot.
\That said I'm most grateful that I don't need to do business with Japanese companies as this sort of thing irrits me no end. My policy is this: "I can do a job for you to fix your problem, and we both benefit. But at the end of the day I go home. We're not friends, and I don't want to be your friend, unless we actually are in which case we're probably socialising already anyway and not as a test."
But since I don't drink anyway...

I believe more business is done over 'adult beverages' than most think. :)

A business culture not exclusive to Japan but still an excellent image. V

Wow! They are used to it. I hope you had something to eat before this started.

So very Japanese, and well captured. I used to have to go out to eat and drink with students when I was teaching there.
