Puffin No More

After the storms and period of very cold weather, there have been many dead puffins washed ashore.
Hopefully enough have survived out on the islands to breed.

So sad. The puffin population has really suffered over the past few years....

Such a shame, must be so tough for them.

I read about hundreds dying, it is horrible.
A very good shot, Bill.

A sorry thing to see but it's inevitable I guess. Quality photography though.

Grim reminder of nature's force...

Hate seeing that blue nylon string...much of it is the cause of death to birds and ocean life.

Sad to see, but common enough after wild weather.
Recently our Adelaide beaches have been littered for kilometres with many thousands of pilchard
and enormous amounts of seagrass apparently because local seas have been too warm.

Tragedy that follows with the bad weather...it affects not just people but nature as well...sad...V

Awww, sad. We forget how tough it must be for wildlife.

So sad! Hundreds of puffins and guillemots plus dead seals and porpoises too!
It's been a harsh few months for Scottish wildlife!

I'd love to see a puffin in the wild...

How very tragic. I certainly hope enough of them have survived.

Read this story on the BBC Bill and it really sadden me. It is just so tragic for this beautiful bird to have such a setback....
