The Iron Eye

North Berwick

This old iron device is fixed to the rock and, presumably, was used in the past for mooring boats on the long-lost pier.
I have wanted to get a good picture for a while. This evening I found it lit by the setting sun, just breaking through the heavy clouds.
I suspended my GH2 with the wide angle upside down from the tripod, centre column inverted, so the camera was just off the ground.
The swivel screen is ideal for this sort of low-down composition.

This is simply outstanding and worth all the trouble you went to to capture it. Great light and color against that threatening sky. Looks sort of like a pagan monument to me ;-). V.
