NGC891, an edge-on galaxy in Andromeda.
The red giant just right of center is no more than 5000 light years away, in our local arm
of the Milky Way. NGC891, the large edge-on galaxy left of center, is about 30 million light years distant.
The background galaxies, sprinkled all over but concentrated in the lower right,
are around 200 million light years away.
