20-MAY-2006 Andrys

The pocket-sized Elph s410 was at max zoom.

Florence, Italy

Many were using small cameras and videocams, mostly not noticed by the guards.
You could do this with people behind you blocking the view.

I later asked the guards why, officially, even NON-flash photos were
discouraged after the restoration of David (from hundreds of years of grit,
as it had been outside for a long time too).

They thought it could be concern that people would use flash accidentally.

Dear Andrys,
I would like to use your photo of David in a brochure to advertise one part of an art program I am organizing to be started in 2009. Andrew Devries, a sculptor from western Massachusetts, will be leading a group in Florence and southern Tuscany and we would like to lead in with what we think is the most recognizable sculpture.
Please send me your conditions.
Thanks,
Joan Hill
