El Tío Pepe
They specialize in Torta Ahogada (drowned submarine sandwich) a typical dish from the Mexican state of Jalisco, particularly, the city of Guadalajara.
The sandwich is served on a Mexican Sub Roll, stuffed with Carnitas (braised pork) and drowned in a delicious complex, spicy, savory sauce. Delicious!
The photo was taken in Chula Vista, seven miles from the border crossing to Mexico. The main restaurant is about ten miles away in Tijuana.
Travel to Mexico is still unpredictable with long waits common, so we'll do with the excellent food from this food truck. Very nice people too.
