April 17

Turnaround Day

Norwegian Jewel arrived about an hour before this photo was taken. The crew on board, and at the terminal, have until this evening disembark passengers, clean, do maintenance, take on supplies and take on another set of passengers before leaving this evening.
Almost all cruise ships arrive here in the early morning and are on their way again by nightfall. Norwegian Jewel will leave for Cabo San Lucas, Mexico tonight as will Disney Wonder arriving in the background.

Blimey, that's a whole stack of work in a very short time...nicely composed shot Walter, I like the sense of scale here

The bigger the ships, the shorter the stopovers! :)

Looks like a busy port. Too bad the ships have gotten so enormous. V

informative to have a look behind the glitz and observe the grittier side of that industry...smart framing with a bit of dock to suggest depth..

The size of those cruise ships is amazing. All the work that has to be done between voyages is almost unimaginable.

That's a short turnaround time for sure with so much to be done...nice to see the cruise ship business coming back to life again. V

Great shot. I'm still amazed by surface tension!

Excellent shot of the two behemoths, not my favourite things I must say, but I know they are beloved by many travelers. However, your fine shot shows the size and the text explains the timing so well. V

Impressive shot. That's a lot of work to support a lot of leisure.
