As its name implies, the Long-billed Curlew stands out for its long, curved down bill and its large size. In fact this is the largest shorebird in North America.
I love the repeated horizontal rhythms you have going here, Alina. The banding in the sand with it's great contrast and light all the way to the ripples and waves on the water. Of course your bird as subject is delightful and perfectly silhouetted. The simplification by converting to b&w really helps show off the essence of this image.

Wonderful image. I especially like the black and white rendition which not only abstracts the seascape, but gives energy to what appears to be a very determined curlew.
Perfectly abstracted, Alina. Instead of describing the bird. as so many bird photographers do, you imply its presence by silhouetting it within an abstracted seascape. It looks as if it is late to work!
