Francois (in blue) and Otto are cousins. They fled Rwanda in 1994 during the genocide, moving first to Burundi, then to Tanzania, and ultimately to Kenya. They run a business in the Dagorreti district of Nairobi making mandazi - somewhat like doughnuts in the shape of a half moon - having received vocational training from a local project supported by RIJ. The business is doing well, employing two Kenyans. Francois is also an award-winning musician, with songs about issues such as the environment and refugees.
