160109_094657_0626 "Did You Say... Fisheye?"

Illawarra, NSW

"Because ah likez teh soundz of that!"

I had already decided that Lucy (also known by her superhero name of El Gato) would be the first victim of my brand spanking new BCL-0980 9mm Fisheye body cap lens that arrived in the post today. The pun was too great to resist, though the chop-licking was pure luck, I admit. (Lucy is not normally a cooperative subject that way.) At about a hundred bucks in the post Christmas sales, it's certainly not a professional quality fish eye lens but then unless you're a pro photographer the sort of money that those things command (north of a grand for the best ones) is unjustifiable for the usage that you get from them.

However I can see this being a particularly useful lens on trips where some shooting will be of interiors, and also down at the HARS aircraft museum where you can't really get back far enough to fit an entire 747 into the frame. With an image angle of 140 degrees it's as wide as I'm likely to realistically need.

Incidentally, the resemblance to one of last year's PADs is unmistakable, is it not? (Lucy would insist that it is, and that it's because that's really just another shot of her.)

Love the fisheye bend and Lucy's tongue. Very cute and funny. I think the lens did a fine job with this and I hope to see more photos from it in the future. V

Great catch of her licking her chops... which was perfect for the Fisheye story. The lens (and the photographer) did a good job. Nice and crisp and not much distortion. V

The only difference here is Lucy will fit on your lap where her look-alike wont :) New toys are always fun!!

Love the POV! That fisheye does a great job. The distortion gives her a quite a cattitude! Great timing too. V
