The Porsche 914-6 is a very desirable and collectible car. It is truly unique and set apart from all its contemporaries because unlike the regular 914, the 912 and the 356 - which are all underpowered - this car boasts a 6 cylinder 911 engine and is a much sought after race car. This 914-6 variant features a carbureted 2.2L "S" engine with a Bosch/Supertech twin ignition, placed amidships in front of a version of the 1969 911's "901" gearbox configured for a mid-engine car. The 914-6 model also used a similar suspension and brakes to the 911, giving superior handling and braking superiority along with higher power output. The 914 was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1970. A 914-6 piloted by Frenchmen Claude Ballot-Lena and Guy Chasseuil won the GTS class and finished sixth overall at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans. Finding one of these cars in acceptable condition both mechanically and aesthetically is a task; finding one with matching numbers and in museum quality condition is very rare. This car has undergone a complete and professional bare metal restoration which is fully documented. All phases of the restoration are captured photographically and will be made available with the car. The car was a restoration project taken on by the owner of Stuttgart Northeast, www.stuttgartnortheast.com/ a specialty Porsche service workshop in the Boston area. As such, nothing was left to chance, nothing was done except by the hands of a true Porsche professional and nothing you find will come anywhere close to this car.
