Dr. Bob Gagnon (USA) 70' Porsche 914-6 GT project - sn 914.043.0599

(2015) Evidently this GT was recently offered for sale at auction, see here http://www.sportscarmarket.com/platinum-auction-database/6773386 starting bid was $140,000 and did not sell, the GT remains available and was on display at Rennsport V.

This GT started life in February of 1970 as a factory 914-6 and later converted to the 914-6 GT factory specs. by Dr. Robert Gagnon of La Jolla, CA. Dr. Gagnon seek the talent of Don Araki, the guy who built the IMSA winning GTU 914 car for Wayne Baker back in the 80's. As you can see from this photo gallery, the results were nothing short of impressive.

This 914-6 GT was sold in 1993 https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/22288963 to a private collection in Florida for well over $85,000 (was I supposed to say that?!) : (

Dear Armando,

I stumbled upon your site by accident. You've done a nice job highlighting the various GT info.

My ex wife was from Rouen and I bought the base 914-6 from a small garage there. I took the car after restoration/reproduction to the "Oldtimers Grand Prix" at the Nurburgring where Wolfram Reuter (who I had known previously ) saw it and offered to buy it on the spot for 20,000 DM. We followed him home, left the car and flew home from Frankfurt with only our luggage and the spare tire which was a loaner.

Fred Hampton and Bob Gagnon are close friends and we have many adventures in our searches for "documented" and phantom GTs plus parts. Probably the best source was Manfred Freisinger in Karlsruhe who has the greatest treasure trove of Porsche parts in the world.
