I was at NKP 70-71. Automatic Tracking Radar Specialist for the QU-22. Great job. I was also a Air Police Augmenter. Work 16hrs then get called out during an alert. That part sucked.

air traffic controller on that day, bs'ed with him when he was taxing out. End of my shift and walked out just in time to see it happen, was a friend that I met and never will forget that day.

Yes, I remember giving Lanny York his intel brief at TUOC prior to his take off on that fateful day. He was a good man. I think of him often as one of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as he did his duty for our country.

I was stationed at NKP 03/72-03/73 working on the OV-10s. I remember the crash and subsequent investigation. Most of the pics here were before my time but nice to see anyway.

I was stationed at NKP from 70-72 working on QU-22's. Not sure if anyone remembers who was there at the time when a crash at the end of the runway that killed pilot Lanny York on takeoff flying a QU-22. I also played soccer for the base team. Would love to hear from anyone who worked 554 recon or played on the base team. Thanks for the great pics and memories I will never forget.
