www.pbase.com Terms of Service
The basic meaning of the following is that PBASE is not going to take advantage of its users, and expects its users not to take advantage of it.
PBASE allows users to create galleries by uploading digital images.
It is intended to allow users to display their photos and view the work of others.
Any images uploaded by a user remain the property of that user or whatever party holds the copyright.
By uploading images, a user does not surrender his/her copyright or ownership of the images.
Acceptable content
Upload your own work.
Do not upload images you take from other web sites. Those are copyrighted.
Do not upload pornography. It is copyrighted. Collect it on your own hard drive.
There is no guarantee of privacy.
PBASE has some features that reduce the possibility of unwanted people viewing the images, but it is possible for someone to find a way to circumvent these measures.
If it is important that an image should not be seen by the public, do not put it on PBASE.
PBASE reserves the right to remove or categorize images in any way it sees fit.
If a user uploads something of questionable legality or taste, it may be removed without notice.
Users agree to accept all liability for the legality of content they submit and will not hold PBASE responsible for any damages that result.
There is no guarantee of permanence.
But every effort is made to provide a stable and permanent site.
PBASE uses failure resistant storage and does regular backups of site contents.
If however something catastrophic occurs and everything is destroyed, users have no right to demand anything of PBASE.
Usage Limits
Until such time that disk and bandwidth usage begins to seriously degrade performance, there are no limits.
If problems arise, PBASE will then do whatever is necessary to keep everything running well.
Update 25-Mar-2002 - pbase will soon be changing to a paid subscription system. The costs of servers and bandwidth has become very high.
If you would like additions or clarifications to these terms, send mail to image@pbase.com
Note from Slug:
I run this site. I view everyone as people and fellow photographers, not as customers.
I do and will do everything I can to keep pbase.com running forever because I don't want people to hate me, and I have no corporate entity to hide behind.
