These include photos taken from tv shows as well as one from a commercial DVD and a few from a DVD-R disc that I recorded on a 4-yr old Panasonic DVD recorder.

With no kitchen cableTV available (landlord), I use a $20 Radio Shack indoor antenna that gets 6 HD channels off the air, 24 digital channels in all.  Towers are about 14 miles away.  But get one that has VHF too, for channels 1-13, as 5 of my HD channels are in VHF band.

Since the DVD and DVD-R samples are in Standard Definition rather than HD, you'll see a difference from the pictures taken of TV images.  Update: Since it's $255 this week (Feb. 19, 2009), and it usually sells for a lot more this is worth considering, since digital access is all we can use as of June '09. The built-in DVD player is excellent, playing a compatible DVD-R disc without any problems.  But you can see that the HD tuner makes a difference over the DVD standard definition.  Note: This tv is not mountable, but, at 7.7 lbs, can be moved easily and used as a portable DVD player.  Useful for the kitchen or on an office desk.  Slow channel switching tho'.
