Mow Cop is a "folly" on the ridge that marks the boundary between Staffordshire Moors and the Cheshire Plain.
The Castle was built as a summerhouse in 1754 for Randle Wilbraham I of Rode Hall. It was built to look like part of an ancient castle, and would have enhanced the view of the newly constructed Rode Hall some 3 miles away on the Cheshire side of the hill.
It was blowing a gale up there on the day of these photos, so these hand-held shots were a challenge.
